I was so excited when this Topshop wool plaid skirt showed up on my porch last week! I had previously ordered the Topshop black ribbed skater skirt, but it wasn't as thick of material to flare out on its own as I wanted. I returned the black skirt and ordered this red plaid instead that is perfect for fall and winter. It is made of a very thicker wool, and the skirt flares out on its own at just the right angle. This is exactly what I was expecting, and I am very happy with this purchase.
I feel like plaid and tartan are synonymous with winter because plaid pieces of clothing are usually made of heavier wool or wool-blend fabrics. For that reason, seeing plaid coats and scarves makes me think of snow and the holidays. However, plaid clothing doesn't have to mean a thick winter coat-there are plenty of options in varying fabrics and textures available now to add plaid to your wardrobe. Red plaid is my favorite, so red plaid is my focus for this particular post.
Add a bold burst of red plaid with a jacket, dress, or shirt like these outstanding options:
Left: Topshop "Tartan Zip Blazer" in red, $136 at Topshop here plus matching shorts available for $64 here
Middle: "Plaid a Line" Dress, $134.99 at Modcloth here
Right: "Great Books" top, $39.99 at Modcloth here
Or add a subtle splash of red plaid with a pair of shoes, scarf, or bag like these fabulous finds:
Left: Franco Sarto "Ariana" Flat (Nordstrom Exclusive) in red multi plaid, $64.90 (on sale!) at Nordstrom here
Middle: "Kayla" plaid scarf in garnet red, $58 at Banana Republic here
Right: "It's in the Bag," $67.99 at Modcloth here
Do you like to wear plaid? Do you think it's an all-year trend or just fall and winter? Thanks so much for reading!
