I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend, and that those of you who also have today off (lucky you!) are enjoying your extended weekend.  It is back to work for me this morning, but I wanted to post an outfit that I wore out on Friday nightI purchased this cream batwing sweater on a trip to Tokyo three years ago.  The funny story behind this purchase is that I had been in Hong Kong for a week enjoying temperatures in the upper 80's (it was the end of September), then flew to Tokyo and felt so cold with temperatures in the mid 60's!  I hadn't thought to bring sweaters, so I had to go shopping!  What a terrible problem to have, right?  =)  This particular batwing sweater caught my eye because I didn't own any sweaters with a batwing shape at the time, and it is super soft and warm.

I haven't seen many batwing sweaters in stores, but I did a little searching online and found these great save and splurge options:

Left: Save on the INC International Concepts "Batwing-Sleeve Cowl-Neck Metallic Marled Sweater" in green/gold, $52.99 (on sale!) at Macy's (extra 15% off with promo code VETDAY) here
also available in cement for $43.99 (extra 15% off with promos code VETDAY) here
Right: Save on the Design History "Batwing Cowl-Neck Top" in onion peel, $35.40 (extra 40% off!) at Last Call by Nieman Marcus here, also available in blue lapis here, cabernet here, or black here

Left: Splurge on the St. John Collection "Batwing-Sleeve V-Neck Sweater" in pewter, $495 (preorder) at Nieman Marcus here
Right: Splurge on the Joie "Celia" Cowl-Neck Sweater in chalk, $288 at Nieman Marcus here

I think that a batwing sweater pairs wonderfully with skinny jeans as I did here, or with a slim pencil skirt for the office.  This sweater shape is loose fitting, so I think it looks best with a slim, fitted bottom.  How would you wear a batwing sweater?

  1. Cute sweater Amber! I had a giggle when I saw the word "batwing".. I had a picture in my mind of Batman suddenly. LOL! And of course there's always good reason to shop just how I was in San Fran with the weather change! ;)

  3. I can't say I'm fond of the trend, maybe because every time I've tried it, it makes me lose my shape - or just makes me look like a blob. But I think it looks fantastic on you. If I were to wear batwing tops, I'd definitely pair them with skinny jeans or shorts and tights. I'd love to see you try the latter!
