Red Blazer + Navy Plaid + Pearls

I apologize for the lighting in these photos, my last few weeks have been a bit crazy and I didn't have a chance to take photos of this outfit in the early morning or before dark.  However, I really like the components of this outfit and decided to go ahead and share.  Inspiration credit goes to the lovely Annie over at Stylish Petite for this one: last month Annie posted this outfit combining a blazer, plaid, and pearls.  It was one of those outfits that I saw and said wow, that looks amazing...and then realized I have similar pieces already in my closet to easily create my own version.  I love that through blogging I am constantly getting ideas on how to restyle existing pieces from all of the fashionable ladies in the blogosphere, making old pieces feel fresh and new again.  For my version, I dusted off three pieces in my closet: a Banana Republic Factory blazer (seen here back in August of 2012) an Abercrombie plaid shirt, and a Stella & Dot necklace (seen here in October 2012).  Then I added a wool pencil skirt, leopard/cheetah print pumps and belt, and my navy Prada tote for a sleek office look.  I wear statement necklaces all the time, but I think these pearls are going to start rotating more frequently through my office ensembles to add a bit of Jackie O & Audrey Hepburn flair.

Blazer: Banana Republic Factory (old), similar "Fitted Blazer" in red (also available in four other colors), $24.95 at H&M here
Plaid Shirt: Abercrombie (old)
Pearls: Stella & Dot (old)
Skirt: "Factory Pocket Pencil Skirt" in navy (also available in heather carbon), $57 (on sale!) at J Crew Factory here
Pumps c/o Nine West "Kimery" in natural multi/black pony, $62.99 at here
Leopard Belt: "Factory Skinny Calf Hair Belt" in cheetah, $19.50 at J Crew Factory here
Tote: Prada "Saffiano Lux Small Tote" in navy, see available colors at Saks Fifth Avenue here

I think that pearls and plaid make a lovely combo this fall, with just the right amount of preppy + glam.  First, check out my picks for plaid shirts currently available online and all priced at $88 or less:
