Spring Fitting Room Try-Ons: Anthropologie + H&M

Happy Friday, everyone! I had some time last weekend to browse new spring styles at a couple of my favorite stores, so I thought why not take photos and document the items here on the blog like I have done a few times in the past? There are so many great spring prints popping up in stores now that it felt like the perfect time to visit Anthropologie and H&M. These stores can be a dangerous place for my wallet, but I had so much fun walking through, scoping out all of the new pieces, and pulling a piece here and there to try on. The items I purchased had to be on my spring shopping list, so that helped to narrow down the list considerably. While I didn't love every piece that I tried, I found several winners that either came home with me or that I flagged to check for future sales. Please read on for more photos, sizing information, outfit links, and more.

I can always make room for a work-appropriate blazer in my closet, and am loving H&M's selection this spring! This light blue and white plaid style immediately caught my eye at my local store. Oversize fits are very popular right now, but when I tried a size small (second photo down) I felt like it drowned me. My local store didn't have an XS in this print, so I tried an XS in another great plaid print (third photo down) and still didn't feel comfortable with the size. Then I found an XXS in the blue plaid and it felt like the right size--room to move, but proper sleeve length and shoulder width. I would say try your normal size and also try one size down to see what you prefer. The fabric is a really pretty light blue plaid, and it feels sturdy (definitely not flimsy/thin). I'm excited to style this for work with white pants, like you see below.

After purchasing the blue blazer, I moved on to Anthropologie to check out their new spring styles. Every spring I have crisp white tops that can pair with jeans, shorts, and skirts for summer on my shopping list. I can never keep white tops for more than a year or so, I either wear them out or unintentionally spill something on them that stains. This white pintucked blouse is a lightweight and comfortable cotton, but not see-through, and I love the fit. I don't think it needs a cami underneath, since it's a looser fit, but I could go either way. It is one of those tops that will so easy to throw on with pretty much anything, and the XS fit perfectly, so it came home with me. I also recently got rid of an older pair of light blue straight leg jeans that were worn out, and while they weren't directly on my shopping list this high-waist pair fit so well that also came home with me. The organic denim is super soft, and I just love the light wash. I either wear a 25 or 26 depending on the brand, and I went with a 26 in this style since there isn't much stretch.

A satin skirt has been on my shopping list since last year, but I have been waiting to find the perfect one and finally found it in this leopard bias print satin midi skirt! It is hard to tell in these photos, but the skirt is a navy blue print, not black. I love that it's navy, since I wear more navy than black. This style is high-waist with an elastic waistband, and the XS fit great with room to move and sit comfortably. One call-out is that this skirt has a side slit, just FYI that it's there on the left side, but the length of the slit is still work-appropriate as it is not very high up the thigh. Since it's still chilly out, I thew a long vest over a fitted sweater and this skirt for my first styling to the office yesterday and received so many compliments. I'm sure you will too.

Since I wear my black and white striped wide leg pants so much in the summer, I had to share this polka dot pair! They are lightweight, high-waist, and they have pockets! Win-win-win. This pleated style is so cute and comfortable that I am going to keep an eye out and potentially pick them up during an Anthro day or other sale. I am wearing a size two here, the smallest size available in store. They were a little big but not terrible - I would like to also try a zero for comparison.

The last pair of pants that came home with me were not on my spring shopping list, but were too good of a price to pass up. I really like the "Essentials by Anthropologie" pant line, I have another pair of bright red full length flares that are the same ponte-style knit fabric with just the right amount of stretch. My red ones are an XS and this bright blue pair is also an XS, they fit true to size. This style will be so fun to wear with neutrals this spring!
