Transitional Style: Cropped Trench Coat + Mid-Rise 90's Jeans

While I will never get rid of timeless closet staples, every few years there are updated versions of these favorite pieces that are worth trying for a new take on one of my go-to outfit formulas. Today's outfit is a great example of this. You all know I love my classic trench coat, and a very common French girl-inspired styling is to pair it with a striped shirt, jeans, and loafers. This spring, I decided to buy into the cropped trench trend (seen previously in this post) for a new take on this favorite jacket style but in a lighter hue. This cropped style has been so easy to style with skirts, shorts, and jeans thus far and I am a fan! Then, I decided to take a step further by putting aside my usual high waist jeans for a mid-rise 90's pair in a dark wash that is ideal for fall and winter. As a millennial this isn't an easy move for me, but adding a striped tee in a longer length helps me feel balanced. Chunky loafers and my go-to Faure le Page tote complete this updated version of a casual classic outfit. Please continue scrolling to see more photos, outfit links, and more of my picks for cropped trenches and mid-rise jeans to consider updating your closet for the summer to fall transition.
