Fall Style: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2023 Purchases
It's that time again, when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale famously puts a selection of fall styles on sale early and enables shoppers to get a jump start on adding fall trends to our wardrobes. You may have seen my Instagram stories sharing the few pieces that I ordered this year, but if not my overall sentiment since 2020 has been that my wishlists have been small with few pieces that caught my eye. I feel like most of the sale styles this year are similar or the same as pieces already in my closet, or the same pieces that have been on sale for the last few years. I am not saying that is a bad thing, knowing that some of the limited selection of course was due to the pandemic and resulting supply chain constraints, but instead my perspective is that I have built up my closet over time with the basics and the classic pieces that can be worn year after year. This means that the items that I purchased this year (and the last few years) are either a new trend or a replacement to something that has worn out. Hopefully that logic makes sense! Now, let's get on to the pieces I purchased and my initial outfit stylings for the upcoming fall season. These AllSaints Frieda Cargo Pants sold out quickly, but I've linked them here in case they come back in stock during or after the sale, and also linked some similar options. I was skeptical about how these pants would look and fit, but I actually really like them! I followed the size chart and ordered a 4 US/ 8 UK size for a loose, comfortable fit and am very happy with them. They are a medium rise and the material is fairly thin, making these pants a great option for summer nights and warm fall days. I styled these pants with a cropped tank, heeled sandals, my Dior Medium Book Tote, and several jewelry favorites. I also added an off-shoulder top to easily transition this look from day to night, or from summer to fall.

These Cole Haan Foster Lug Sole Booties are almost sold out, but I've linked them here in case the rest of the sizes come back in stock during or after the sale. I ordered my usual size 8 and they fit perfectly. I really like the versatile tan color, round toe style and lug sole that will be great for wet and icy sidewalks this winter. These boots are not waterproof, but I will be treating them with a waterproof spray. My wash of the Paige Laurel Canyon high-waist flare jeans are not from the sale, I purchased them earlier this year, but they are still available here and a non-raw hem wash is part of the sale so I linked those here. I wear a size 25 in this brand, ordered my usual size and they fit great. My crochet tee, tank, crossbody bag, and favorite jewelry pieces are all existing items in my closet that I think create a fabulous summer to fall transitional look.
These Ted Baker London Taylina Floral Espadrille Wedge Sandals were too cute to not order and try. I own black and cognac espadrilles, but not navy, so I can argue that they fill a gap in my closet. I ordered my usual size 8, they fit great and the 3" wedge is very comfortable! I styled these espadrilles with a navy puffed sleeve dress (similar options here and here) and straw tote (similar options here or here) for an ensemble that is perfect for the height of summer and easy to take into fall with a light jacket.

ReplyDeleteI love the crochet top, cargo pants, and lug boots! They are all such wardrobe staples. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet on this sale but I am debating on a few skincare products that I want to try. There’s also a pair of BP boots that caught my eye that has been running around in my head!

Oh I bet this sale was amazing. I live by the 80/20 rule. %80 classics and %20 trendy pieces. I LOVE those cargo pants. There was a pair that I looked at by me that had a metallic sheen like this in a camu print but they did ot have my size I SO wanted them.
