How to Style a Trench Coat this Spring

Last week I talked about how much I love cherry blossom season here in Seattle, along with my tradition to visit the University of Washington to see the 90+ year old Yoshino cherry trees in full bloom and shoot spring outfits. This spring I am all about updating classic spring outfits to meet current trends, and you may have seen that I shared a blazer and jeans look last week. Today I am sharing another updated spring outfit with my favorite Burberry trench coat. This classic trench coat is no stranger to this blog--in fact you've seen it styled around 20 times over the last 10+ years with some of my favorites being here, here, here, and here. I love the versatility of a khaki trench coat and have styled mine with dresses, skirts, pants, and jeans. It has been my go-to spring jacket for work, casual and travel and I highly recommend a trench coat as part of your capsule wardrobe. In today's look, I decided to style this trench with a few current spring trends: a cropped "lady jacket" cardigan, off-white high rise straight leg jeans, low heeled ballet pumps, and my ballet pink Chanel mini flap bag purchased during our December Paris trip. All of these pieces you've seen before, but styled together they create what I believe is a chic way to style a trench coat for this season's updated trends. Please continue reading to see more photos, outfit links, and more of my picks for trench coats that I think would look amazing styled this spring and beyond.
