I had been eyeing the Dooney & Bourke "Happy Bag" crossbody satchel in cognac since product launch, because I don't have a bag in this particular color and it matches both my Banana Republic "Mya" loafer pumps and my Vince Camuto "Brooklee" boots in rich cocoa, last seen here: The Peplum Coat.  I wasn't able to justify purchasing one at $198, but I knew that the "12 Days of Dooney" Deals would run in December and I crossed my fingers.  Lo and behold, the Happy Bag was marked down to $99 during one of the last "12 Days of Dooney" deals, and I snagged one in cognac before the color sold out.

A small crossbody satchel like the "Happy Bag" is a great choice for shopping, running errands, or any other time when you don't need to carry a lot of items and you want your hands free.  There is plenty of room inside this bag for a small wallet (the checkbook size could be a no-go because of the width), cell phone, keys, and lip gloss.  The "Happy Bag" is available in many colors (link above), and I also really like these crossbody satchel save and splurge picks:

Left: Save on the Patricia Nash "Sorano Shoe Polish Crossbody Satchel," in camel, $118.80 (40% off!) at Nordstrom here
Middle: Save on the IIIBeCa By Joy Gryson "Chambers Street Crossbody Bag" in tan hot pink (7 additional colors available), $98 at Nordstrom here
Right: Save on the "Pop Trim Crossbody Bag" in cognac (also available in mint), $24.50 at Wet Seal here

Left: Splurge on the 49 Square Miles "Born in USA" bag in topaz (also available in citron), $275 at Farfetch.com here
Middle: Splurge on the MARC BY MARC JACOBS "Preppy Leather Colorblocked Crossbody" in silver fox multi, $368 at Bloomingdale's here
Right: Splurge on the Chloe "Small Marcie Satchel Bag" in brown (2 other colors available), $695 at Nieman Marcus here

How would you style a little crossbody satchel like the "Happy Bag?"  Happy Friday and thank you for reading!

  2. Great purchase. I am a big fan of crossbody bags which came from needing to be hands free to carry my son when he was younger. I still love them to use when we go to parks and I don't want to run around with a giant purse in tow.

    1. Fran - I've worn the pumps to work twice and they have been comfortable all day! I do sit at my desk for periods of time, but I also walk around quite a bit up and down the stairs to different floors, so I think it is fair to say that they are a good work pump. I really like that the toebox is square rather than pointed - that really helps my feet to not feel squished at the end of the day. Yesterday I was in the store here in Seattle and the Myas were 40% off...at that price I definitely recommend trying them! =)
