French-Inspired Transitional Style with Sézane

It is no secret that I am a fan of French-inspired style, and have built out my closet with a number of classic pieces that one would see in a French-inspired capsule wardrobe such as a khaki trench coat, structured satchels and totes, sleek and chunky loafers, button-up shirts, striped sweaters, slip dresses and skirts, wide leg pants, and more. You have seen me style a number of looks with these pieces here on my blog, and today I am sharing two French-inspired transitional looks in partnership with Sézane. I don't know what rock I was living under, but I discovered Sézane during the pandemic when I was spending a significant amount of time on social media and the brand started popping up in my feeds. I noticed their pieces were made of quality materials and their efforts toward sustainability. I ordered my first piece last spring: a floral dress that has since become a go-to piece for travel (Greece and New Mexico are two examples). I then added a heavier weight striped sweater and cardigan to my closet earlier this spring, and was thrilled when Sézane's Influence team reached out for a partnership. Please continue reading to see what pieces I chose from Sézane's current collection, how I styled them, and my honest thoughts on the products.

This romper immediately caught my eye because of its beautiful floral print, and it has been so popular that there are only a few sizes left online as I type up this post. I followed the size chart, ordered a size 4, and am very happy with the fit. I really like the structure and shape of this piece: the puffed sleeves, looser shorts, and cloth belt to cinch the waist and bring it all together. You cannot see in these photos, but this romper has a stretchy elastic waist that makes it easy to put on. I mentioned the structure: this romper is made of a thicker linen/cotton blend material that holds its shape and is great for a moderate summer day or upcoming fall weather. I would not wear it on an extremely hot day, but I packed it for a recent girls' weekend in Montreal with cooler temperatures and it was perfect for dinner and a night out. A surprise benefit is that this romper unrolled out of my suitcase without needing to be ironed! Since it is a linen blend, I expected it to wrinkle significantly when packed, but was pleasantly surprised. The only downside is the typical downside of a romper--needing to deal with a number of small buttons when using the restroom--but it is manageable and I knew what I was getting into. I styled this romper again over the weekend with espadrilles and my Celine Micro Belt Bag for a lunch and shopping date with my hubby, and am hoping they restock more sizes because it is such a great summer to fall transition piece.

The second piece I picked out is this chic cropped cardigan that I think should be a fall essential! This cardigan is made of 100% merino wool with a soft texture and comfortable weight (not too thick/hot). I fell in love with this rosewood color, and it is available in ten additional colorways (this sage was a close second choice for me) so I am confident that there should be a color to suit every closet. The cropped shape and large buttons are synonymous with classic French style, and this piece will be so easy to style a multitude of ways from now through fall. Here I styled this cropped cardigan with wide leg cropped pants and ankle strap sandals for brunch and errands on a warm (not hot) weekend day, and it was an ideal layer. I can already think of additional future outfits to style this sweater such as with wide leg pants and loafers, a miniskirt or pencil skirt and knee-high boots, or high-waist straight leg jeans and wedges. The only downside of this sweater is that the label says hand wash only rather than machine washable, so a bit of extra care will be needed, but that would not stop me from ordering additional colors of this versatile sweater.

What is your favorite way to style a French-inspired outfit this season? Please don't hesitate to leave me a comment below to let me know. Thank you for visiting my blog today and I hope you have a wonderful week!
