Spring Style: French-Inspired Casual Outfit

This spring I am loving classic and effortless French-inspired style, as indicated by last week's outfit post with a monochrome French-inspired work outfit. There are already many posts out there sharing how to put together a French capsule wardrobe, but today I am focusing on a casual outfit combo comprised of pieces that should be in any francophile's closet. You have seen most of these pieces before, with the exception of this ecru and navy striped sweater that is a perfect layer for a chilly and rainy Seattle spring day. High-rise wide leg jeans are the anti-skinny jean that your closet needs and may have been missing, a pair of lug-soled loafers are a closet must-have that can be worn with everything from jeans to mini skirts, and of course we cannot forget the classic khaki trench coat. These pieces combined create a casual weekend-ready ensemble that is laid back but structured--it's all about balance. Please continue reading to see more photos, outfit links, and more of my picks for striped sweaters and wide leg jeans that I think would look super styled together this spring and beyond.

There are many ways to style a french-inspired outfit this spring, but as you can see I am loving a striped sweater and wide leg jeans together in a casual weekend-ready look. You can scroll through below to see more pieces that I am loving right now and think you might too:

  7. This is the perfect spring outfit, head to toe. The trench coat is the perfect layering piece for cool days and how awesome are the buttons on your new sweater? I know it can be rainy in Seattle but look at how everything already looks so green and lush! Beautiful backdrop.
