This post is overdue, but I hope you will forgive me and still find value as the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is not yet over (there are still 11 days left to shop as of the date I publish this post!) and there are still many great deals available on fall fashion trends. Unfortunately, the last couple of weeks have been extremely busy for me work-wise, some travel and some corporate organizational drama. I finally had time to go pick up my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases two days ago, try them on to assess their fit and quality, coerce my husband to take some quick photos and create this post to share my thoughts with you. I broke down this year's presale dates and the items I had my eye on in this post, you may recall. I was able to shop the sale in the second wave (Ambassador status) starting July 10th, and while several items on my wishlist sold out before I had access I was able to order a number of chic fall pieces to assess for my fall closet that delivered over the course of the last week. I have built out my closet over time and really do not need anything, but I selected some items to purchase based on identified gaps or trends I wanted to try. Please continue reading to see photos, fit and sizing information, and links to the pieces in my outfits (or similar items).

The first purchase to share is this
Reiss Wool Blend Coat. Funny enough, I do not own a black wool coat and this one looked like it could be a beautiful dressy addition to my closet. The product page says that this coat runs small, but I have another Reiss wool coat in a size 4 US/8 UK that fits perfectly and opted to order my usual size for this brand. I am glad I ordered my usual size because this style fits perfectly too. I saw some reviews that state the material doesn't feel worth the price, and while I know that statement is subjective I want to share my perspective for what it is worth. The material is basically 80/20 wool/poly, and while it has a very soft texture the material is not very thick--meaning I would not plan on taking this coat to Chicago for a cold, windy, snowy type of week. It is, however, a great weight for Seattle's milder winters and I really like the shawl collar, hidden buttons, and large front pockets rather than a belted wrap style. This coat is a keeper for me, since as I mentioned I do not currently own a black wool coat, and unlike some sale items most sizes are still in stock online! In addition to this coat, this outfit also shows this
Ruched Cap Sleeve Sweater in ivory I purchased as a work top (a color that is sold out now but I linked it above in case sizes are restocked), these
high waist Mother jeans that are not part of the sale but have quickly become my favorite summer pair (I love the ecru/off white hue), and these
Alexander McQueen oversized sneakers that have been on hiatus during the spring and summer months but are ready to be back in rotation this fall.

The second purchase to share is this pair of
Vince Slingback Flats in navy blue suede. Slingback flats are everywhere this season, and you already know that I love and wear a ton of navy blue pieces, so naturally I had to order these to try out this style. At the time I ordered these flats, I did not know that they run large so I ordered my usual size 8/38.5. This pair fits okay now, but I worry that they will stretch out to be too big and I just ordered the next size down (7.5/38) to compare. I will keep the pair that fits the best and return the other. Sizing aside, the leather is buttery soft and I can already tell these will be a go-to pair for days in the office. I used to wear heels to the office regularly, when many of us commuted in five days a week, but over the last few years have grown to appreciate a pair of quality flats or low heels since the dynamic has changed and days in the office now mean running around constantly between floors and rooms to maximize time with colleagues and teams (10k steps is never a problem on these in-office days!). Here I am sharing an outfit with a favorite
Sezane Striped Lady Jacket Cardigan,
Ann Taylor petite navy wide leg cropped pants, and my
Faure le Page tote as an example of workwear styling.

The next purchase to share is this
Barbour Waterproof Trench Coat. I already own a tan Burberry trench coat (seen many times here on this blog including
this post), so I ordered this coat thinking I don't need it and would probably return it...but that is not what happened. I live in Seattle, so another raincoat is a welcome addition to my coat closet and will absolutely get worn. Barbour consistently hits for me with excellent quality and fit. I love love love the navy blue color, and how cute is the tartan plaid lining? I appreciate that this coat has both a front zipper and buttons, and a waist tie for a variety of styling options. I ordered my usual Barbour size UK 8/US 4 and it fits perfectly with just enough room to layer a sweater and be able to zip the coat comfortably. Here I am sharing a casual way to style this coat with a
striped sweater, the same
high waist light jeans as the first look, and
waterproof booties from the sale that unfortunately are not the color I was expecting and I think I am going to send them back. The fit and sizing were not an issue, they feel comfortable but the actual color is lighter than the stock photos and not quite what I was looking for.

hereThe last purchase to share is this adorable Prada Mirrored Clutch that came as a set with a refillable lipstick case and four lip colors. It's currently sold out, but I linked it in the event it is restocked. The clutch is marketed as a "couture accessory," so I was excited by the prospect of using it for a night out, but come to find out that it was designed and made slightly too small to evenly fit the iPhone pro max size (see last photo) inside. Why, Prada, why?? I do not have the smaller iPhone size to test, but I think it probably fits. I'm still keeping this set, because I will use the lip colors and either try to squeeze my phone in at an angle or wear the clutch with outfits where I have a pocket to hold my phone. However, as you may have guessed I feel like there was a missed opportunity here to really make this clutch a winning affordable luxury piece by increasing the size slightly to fit larger iPhones. Here I am sharing an outfit idea styling this adorable metallic clutch with my Metallic Slingback Heels, a favorite pair of AG high waist skinny jeans, and a sleeveless mock neck top.
