Fall Shopping: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2022 Purchases

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is officially open to all shoppers as of this past weekend, a sale that is arguably the best time to start shopping for your fall wardrobe. As I mentioned recently via Instagram, I only ordered a few items from this year's sale, but overall am mostly happy with what I purchased and received. Today's post is a compilation of this year's Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, with size and fit information and delineation of what I am keeping versus returning. In addition, there is one additional fall purchase I am sharing that is not from the Nordstrom sale, instead it is a coat that I sought out and purchased because a similar coat from the same brand that I wanted from the sale sold out in 0.00001 seconds during the presale tiers. I think it worked out for the best, though, and perhaps you will too. For reference, I am 5'4" tall and depending on the brand I wear size XS/2 or S/4 in tops and jackets, size 25/2 or 26/4 in pants, and size 8 in shoes. Please continue reading to see all of my sale purchases, descriptions, fit information, and keep versus return verdicts.

Let's start with a look that contains my favorite pieces from this year's sale. This asymmetrical sweater is an item that I flagged to purchase last year (you may remember it from last year's wishlist post here), but one that quickly sold out in the earliest shopping tier. I am so glad the same style was brought back this year in more colors and larger quantities, as I was able to order and receive this gorgeous dusty pink color in size XS. I love a good cozy fall sweater, the fit is perfect, and it's a definite keep. These jeans are a recent purchase from the Paige friends & family sale, I'm wearing a size 26 and they also fit very well. Let's see how long I can keep these white jeans clean, shall we? Then we move on to these booties--I added these to my cart thinking they would go back, but when I received them in person I fell in love with the pale pink neutral color. I have seen the reviews online about the leather being stiff and not comfortable, but I guess my perspective is that many leather boots need to be broken in and they have not bothered me thus far. These boots fit true to size (I ordered a size 8, my usual in this brand) and they are also a keep. Finally, this hat is perhaps my favorite purchase of the sale and while it is already sold out, I linked it above so that you can watch for restocks if you are interested. The color is the perfect cream/ivory and I have already sprayed it with not one, but two coats of scotch guard in hopes that I can keep it pristine for at least a few months. This look, as I mentioned, contains my favorite three pieces from this year's sale. So in summary, the sweater is a keep, the booties are a keep, and the hat is a keep.

This grey blazer is a piece that I had in my cart for presale, hesitated and took it out, then came back to follow through on the purchase a couple of days later because it was still on my mind. I've been wanting a new light grey blazer, and I like that this one is a soft knit fabric that is lightweight and perfect for layering. I initially followed the size chart and ordered a 4 US that said it fit like 0-2, but as you can see here the shoulders are way too big and the sleeves are way too long. That was a big disappointment. I reordered a size 2 US (size chart says it fits like 0) and am really hoping the new size fits because I love the shape and soft fabric now that I have seen it and tried it on in person. Here I styled this blazer with a white crop tank (I have this tank in 8 colors and it is a staple in my closet), the same white jeans as the first outfit, and grey booties. In summary, if the smaller size of the blazer fits well it will be a keep.

This next look is comprised of neutral fall classics for any wardrobe. A camel wool coat, tan cashmere sweater, dark skinny jeans, and nude pumps is an outfit combo that can never go wrong, in my humble opinion. This coat was a fantastic find, one that I would not have sought out if the coat I originally wanted (same brand) hadn't sold out in 0.0001 seconds during the presale tiers. It worked out for the best, though, because I then found this coat on clearance for a lower price than the one I originally was seeking, the fit is perfect, and it has pockets. I followed the size chart, purchased a size UK 8/US 4 and actually like the structure better too. This sweater is an incredible deal on a fall staple, the color is perfection and the weight is ideal for me (not too heavy and great for layering). These dark skinny jeans are a maybe--I followed the size chart and initially ordered a size 26, but the 26 is too big/baggy right off the bat and I know they will stretch more. A size 25 is on order now, and hopefully will fit better, but I will let you all know. Classic nude pumps and a pair of sunnies borrowed from my hubs round out the look. In summary, the coat is a keep, the sweater is a keep, and the jeans are a maybe.

Last but not least, athletic wear. You all know I love my athleisure looks, and I decided at the last minute to add a couple of activewear pieces to my sale order. This funnel neck top is one that I thought was going to go back, but it is so soft and comfy that I decided to go ahead and keep it (my hubby also gave it the thumbs up, and he is very opinionated about athletic wear). The oversize fit is right on trend, the jacquard print is super cute, and it will be a great layer to wear to and from my barre classes and weekend errands. These shorts are an easy yes: I love the blue color, the pockets, and the price. In this final look, I added my Air Force 1s that are not currently on sale, but I've linked them anyway because they are my current go-to white sneakers. In summary, the top and shorts are both keeps.

That's a wrap on my 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases! As mentioned above I have some alternate sizes on the way and will update you all on what else stays versus gets returned. You can also shop all of the in-stock pieces in the widget below.
