Now that it is officially the rainy season in Seattle, it is time to dedicate a post to an item that is arguably the most important footwear for anyone living in the Pacific Northwest: the rain boot. While not the sexiest pair of boots in my closet, they keep my feet dry during these dreary, wet days. I piled on cozy layers consisting of a plaid flannel shirt, cardigan, and scarf over my black Citizens of Humanity denim leggings to complete the look.
I am no stranger to rain boots, having lived in the original Wellington boots while hauling hay bales and mucking horse stalls as a kid. However, these days the options are much more fashionable and lighter weight! I know that the Hunter brand rainbow of colors was splashed all over advertisements and displays last year, so I've left out bright colors from this post and focused on a more neutral palette of black, gray, and beige. Check out the save and splurge options that I picked out below.
Try these touchable textures:
Right: Splurge on the Hunter "Regent Apsley," $295 at Nordstrom here
A not-so-basic black:
Left: Save on the Sperry Top-Sider "Pelican Too," $77.95 at Nordstrom here
Right: Splurge on the Coach "Lux," $147.95 at Nordstrom here
Indulge your wild side with snake print:
Left: Save on the Chooka "Snakes" in stone snake, $65 at Piperlime here
Right: Splurge on the Hunter "Carnaby" in natural snake, $195 at Nordstrom here
Saddle up with equestrian style:
Left: Save on the Dav "Women's Equestrian Rain Boot," $75.90 - $97.95 at Amazon here
Right: Splurge on the Burberry "Leather Panel Rain Boot," $395 at Burberry here
What are your thoughts on rain boots? Are current styles fashionably acceptable? I hope that wherever you are, you are staying warm and dry. =) Happy Tuesday!
I'm actually kinda excited to wear my Hunter boots that I bought at Nordies! ^__^
