Did Someone Say Fire?

Sweater:  "Striped Button-Shoulder Pullover" in white/black, $69.50 at Banana Republic here
Pants:  Bella Dahl via Nordstrom Rack
Boots:  Corso Como "Racine" boot, no longer available but similar "Rena" style is $199 at Piperlime here
Watch:  Marc by Marc Jacobs "Blade" Crystal Index watch in silver/gunmetal, $275 at Nordstrom here or $275 at Piperlime here

Anyone who knows me knows that I have always loved the color red.  It could be because my dad is a firefighter and I used to play on the fire engines at the station as a kid, or it could be because my favorite fruit has always been strawberries, or it could be one of many other reasons.  As soon as I saw these red pants at Nordstrom Rack, I knew that I had to have them.  They are wonderfully bright, and are perfect for a gray Northwest fall day.

I paired these red pants with a white and black striped sweater that I purchased at Banana Republic last weekend for 30% off + extra $10 reward from my BR card, bringing it down to $38.65.  I have a slight (ok, major) stripe addiction and couldn't pass it up because the texture is super soft...I am even am tempted to go back and get another color (or all 4).   Banana has been sending out 30% - 40% off coupon codes almost daily, so if you aren't already on their email list I definitely suggest signing up.

Here are my save and splurge picks for bright red denim:

Left: Save on the Old Navy "The Rockstar" Super-Skinny jeans in tobiko orange, $34.50 at Old Navy here
Right: Save on the !iT Denim "Ultra Skinny" in cerise, $39.99 at 6pm.com here

Left:  Splurge on the Current/Elliott Velvet Skinny Pants in scarlet, $198 at Nordstrom here
Right:  Splurge on the J Brand 821 Zoey Corduroy in great red, $231 at J Brand here

What would you pair with bright red denim?  So far, I have only worn mine with black or beige, very neutral tones.   I'm looking for other ideas, and would love to hear how you would pair these!  Thanks for reading and I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday.  =)

  1. I have the same dilemma....I bought a tomato red skirt from loft last year and about the only thing I like pairing it with is either black or denim. I am trying to come up with new ideas, love the stripes.

  2. I love that striped sweater. All the Gap brands have been sending out those emails - they must really want our business. I'm happy to oblige ;)
